This second installment of Presentations 101 is all about what you do first when given the task of putting a presentation together.  No... you don't open PowerPoint or Keynote.  In fact, that should be one of your last steps in the process.  Trust me, nothing kills creativity faster than opening PowerPoint, clicking "Insert," and then "New Slide." 

The first thing you should do is step away from the computer and look for something to write down your thoughts.  Enter the presentation and slide outline.  These are two items that are essential to the success of your presentation.  After all, if you don't have your thoughts organized in the right way then you are setting yourself up for disaster.
